Grey's Anatomy star and photographer Brad Everett Young was one of our own. Love him or hate him, he was the founder of “Jem’s Space” on myspace.com. He shared some great photography of Jem dolls, fashions, and prototypes. The information was not always correct, because his main source didn’t really have a connection to the Jem line. He is a devastating loss to the Jem community.

JEM Doll Body Variations

This seem almost impossible to classify. There are typical examples, but nothing seems to be set in stone. Your Jem doll could have:
the Holograms / the Misfits

H32 - "Super Star" features Condensed font "© 1985 HASBRO INC." (with period): 1986 "MADE IN HONG KONG" Misfits (Holograms?) (with skinnier lower torso, ball wrists, head stamp: etched ID letter and etched "HASBRO INC") Misfits H32 1986 no location* boxed Holograms/Misfits and Super Star bag dolls (with skinnier lower torso, ball wrists, head stamp: etched ID letter and etched "HASBRO INC") Holograms H32/Misfits H22? * some no location dolls have a rectangle were the "MADE IN HONG KONG" has been removed. 1987 "CHINA" Raya and Synergy -- seems H32 made Raya and Synergy dolls, and H44 packaged them or these H32 molds were sent to H44 and used there. (with skinny lower torso, ball wrists, head stamp: Raya - none/Synergy - protruding "HASBRO INC.") H44

			this Stormer has a 1"x1/8" rectangle around the area where the "MADE IN HONG KONG" should be, like it has been removed -- not visible in the image.

The "©1985 HASBRO INC." with "CHINA" on the lower back. Seems to mostly be on 2nd issue Misfits: Clash, Jetta, Roxy, and Pizzazz are known to have this variation. There is rumor of these stamps being on Video and Danse too, and the 1988 dolls should have had this lower stamp.

Like the Holograms (H32/H44) and the Misfits (H32/22), Jem/Jerrica was also manufactured in two factories. With Jem/Jerrica she either came from H22 or H44. Condensed font "© 1985 HASBRO INC." Mexico Only - seems these were shipped and sold in the UK no stamp on her back (Mexican)* *Some of the Mexican dolls can have the typical H22 & H44 head, usually 2nd issue.
