The Produced JEM Playsets 1986-1987
| Early Playset |
| There is an early playset
that was planned for "M" ... JEM. It was a plane
that had a speaker and cassette player, it also could
be used as a stage. The plane was dropped, I would assume
for the Star Stage. The design of it looks similar to
Barbie planes, it looked like they where planning on having
an "M" on it, similar to the "M" on
Kimber's guitar. I have only seen a black and white drawing
of it. |

The Star Stage transforms from a daytime office for Jerrica
to a rockin' reelin, stage for JEM and the Holograms!
The built-in cassette player lets you listen to cassette
tapes provided with the Holograms™, Misfits™,
and Rio™ dolls, as well as other pre-recorded audio
tapes! Top panel lifts to become the stage backdrop and
provides access to all the play pieces. Accessories include
pretend spotlights and speakers, microphones, and "neon"
lightning bolts for an exciting rock stage backdrop. A
second backdrop turns the Star Stage into an ultramodern
office for Jerrica! Includes a desk, chair and files,
plus a phone and coffee cup. When closed, the shoulder
strap can be used to carry the Sound Stage just like a
"boom box"!

The FM Radio/Vanity maybe a Hollywood Jem playset, and a cheaper alternative to the Rockin’ Roadster/Glitter’n Gold Roadster. My Little Pony 1990 “Pony Bride” came with a wedding cake, the top of the cake seems to be a separate mold from the rest of the cake. My suspicion is it was intended for Wedding Kimber, but then altered for Pony Bride. It seems likely Hasbro would have released some type of Wedding Kimber playset, or even a wedding themed “Video Madness” to go with the Wedding Kimber theme. Astral’s dove might have been part of a wedding playset, because her accessory is the only known 1988 plastic accessory not to be a reused accessory, other than Riot’s guitar. The dove theme is heavy used in the Wedding Kimber videos, so that might be another indication the dove theme came from Hasbro. |
