The songs like the episodes had to be registered with the copyright office to be protected. Unlike the episodes most of the songs do not have a Date of Publication. I would assume this is because Wildstar Music, Inc./Starwild Music, Inc. were hired by Sunbow Entertainment, Inc. to create the songs, and Wildstar/Starwild would not have had access to the final air dates. The songs should have been finished before the animation was started, or at least completed.

So what are Wildstar Music, Inc. and Starwild Music, Inc.? For copyright protection most, if not all, composers, songwriters and lyricist set up a publishing company to protect their material. These publishing companies can range from family names, a variation on the one original song published, or completely made up name. You may notice these names on most CD, cassette or album booklets – usually the writers name are listed under the title and before the lyrics, with the corresponding publishing name under the lyrics.

The following list is in order by Registration Date and Registration Number. Almost all of these are registered to Wildstar Music, Inc., with Starwild Music, Inc. having 15 songs registered, 13 are of those are registered to both. Most songs that are not registered to Starwild Music, Inc. have Starwild listed under Names: – Sunbow Entertainment, Inc, DIC Enterprises or any other company information is also listed under name.

The only song that stands out on this list is “Love’s Not Easy”. It has a Registration Date of February 2, 1987. And the first time we hear that song is in “Renaissance Woman” which aired on November 16, 1987. The other two songs for that episode were registered on July 9, 1987.

All the other songs registered on February 2, 1987, appeared in episodes from October 1986 – March 1987. So it would seem that "Love’s Not Easy" was created for one of the episodes that aired within that time frame. Many fans believe “Love’s Not Easy” was intended to be the 3rd song for “Island of Deception.” That episode seems to set up the song with, "I guess love’s not easy for anyone." That is followed by a line that seem to be intended to come after the song break, "Well, that's really sweet and all, but we have got to get off this island!"

“Love’s Not Easy” is also the only song that appears on a 1987 doll cassette that was not part of the “Starbright” – “Glitter and Gold” season.

The only other point of interest is the different titles for some of the songs. Some songs have a “Title”, “Application Title”, and “Other Title”. Most of these are just a variation on the name. One song that stands out is “Can’t get My Love Together” has an Application Title of “Can’t We Love Together” which seems to take the song in a completely different direction.
